About Us

A Brief History

S. Grundy (Stan - my grandfather) Funeral Directors was purchased from W Varley on 20th November 1951. The premises were located at Station Road, next to Porters Woodyard. In 1975, A. Grundy (Tony - my father) took over the family business and remained at Station Road until moving to the present location, The Old Vicarage of Selby Abbey 145 Gowthorpe Selby. In 1996, I joined my Father and eventually took over in 2006. My son, Tomas Grundy then joined the business in 2016 and is our Funeral Director to this this date. We continually strive to improve our service year on year and pride ourselves on our reputation in the local area. Four generations of our family have now been involved in the profession for 70 years, 365 days a year on call for 24 hours. Our service is deeply embedded in our history, there for you in your time of need day or night. Our family, caring for yours.
